
Bishop Levi S. Murray is the Senior Pastor of Jobe’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he has been serving the church and the community for over 14 years. He grew up in Swan Quarter, North Carolina.
He was educated in the Hyde County Public School System and graduated from Mattamuskeet High School in 1986. After graduating high school, he attended Elizabeth City State University.
At the age of 26 he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He later became a member of Joe’s Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Vanceboro, N.C. It was there that he was trained and began his spiritual development under the Leadership of the late Reverend Julius Randolph and Bishop Allan L. Smith. As a member of Joe’s Branch Church, he served in the following ministries-, member of the Down East Christian Organization, President of the YPCL, Trustee, Collector in the Old Original FWB Conference, Drummer, Deacon, Chairperson of the Trustee Board and Associate Minister.
After receiving the call to the gospel ministry he accepted his call to preach God’s word and preached his initial sermon in July 2003. In 2005 he was called to Pastor at Jobe’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in his home town of Swan quarter, NC. On May 26, 2013, he was consecrated as Bishop and Chief overseer of Jobe’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under Bishop Henry Brown of the Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church Inc. in Greenville, NC.
Bishop Murray resides in Greenville, N.C. He is the husband of one wife, Shelia H. Murray of Greenville, NC. They were joined in matrimony on November 27, 1993. She is a committed and dedicated partner who faithfully supports his work in the ministry. She stands beside him and serves in the ministry as the help meet that God has ordained her to be. In this union, God blessed them with one child Kiera L. Murray who is beautiful inside and out and helps support her Dad in the ministry by her faithful attendance, singing and playing the drums.

He worked for the National Spinning Co. and Caron International for 24 years as a Supervisor and Quality Control Manager, 3 years at PAS, USA as a Production Manager. He is currently employed at Denso North America in Greenville, NC as an Assistant Manager.
He is a graduate and a proud Alumni of Pitt Community College. He is tireless, dedicated, and highly respected by his peers. His leadership roles include served as the Chairperson of the Hyde County Ministerial Council for Education, serves on the Hyde/Washington/Tyrrell Recovery Court Advisory board, founder and President of the United for Christ Bible School. He established a ministry called the CIA (Christians In Action), which is geared towards assisting residents in the community. Bishop Murray also established the Hyde County Ministers & Leaders Conference which is held each year in the month of May. His greatest mentor was his father, the late Thomas Franklin Murray. If asked which aspect of his profession he finds most fulfilling, his reply would be, preaching the word of God!
